CODING LEADERSHIP · CHENNAI

Director of Coding

Own the coding function end to end: accuracy, compliance, capacity and the education engine behind it. Certification is not a preference here, it is the entry ticket.

The role

What this job actually is

Coding certification is mandatory

An active coding certification is mandatory for this role: AAPC (CPC, COC, CIC, CPMA or CRC) or AHIMA (CCS, CCS-P, RHIA or RHIT). Certification must be current and maintained.

You own coding at ASP-RCM: the quality standard, the compliance posture, the capacity plan and the people who deliver it. Our coders work across behavioral health and ABA, hospital inpatient and outpatient, physician services, ASC, dental and HCC risk adjustment, supported by CorePulse, our autonomous coding engine. Your job is to hold a coding accuracy standard of 95 percent or better on audited output, keep us defensible in any payer or RADV audit, and build coders who get better every quarter.

Ownership

What you will own

The coding quality standard

Own audited coding accuracy at 95 percent or better across every specialty we serve. Define the QA sampling plan, the scoring rubric and the corrective loop when a coder or a specialty drifts.

Audit readiness and defense

Keep documentation and code selection defensible against payer audits, RADV reviews and client-side internal audit. Own the response when a chart is challenged.

Human-in-the-loop AI governance

Set the rules for where CorePulse proposes and where a certified coder decides. Own the escalation path, the override review and the feedback loop that improves the engine.

Capacity and throughput

Plan headcount and specialty mix against client demand. Protect turnaround time commitments without trading away accuracy.

Coder development

Run the certification and upskilling program. ASP pays for certifications; you decide the curriculum, the cohorts and the standard for promotion.

Guideline currency

Keep the team current on CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, NCCI edits and specialty guideline changes, and make sure updates reach production coding within the cycle they take effect.

Ramp

Your first 90 days

First 30 days

Audit the audit. Review the current QA methodology, sampling rates and accuracy reporting, then re-score a sample yourself to see whether the reported number is the real number.

By day 60

Publish the coding quality plan: rubric, sampling design, specialty-level accuracy baselines, and the corrective action path. Identify the two specialties with the widest gap.

By day 90

Accuracy reporting is trustworthy and specialty-specific, the education calendar is live, and the AI override review loop is running with documented outcomes.

Requirements

What we look for

  • MANDATORY: active AAPC or AHIMA coding certification (CPC, COC, CIC, CPMA, CRC, CCS, CCS-P, RHIA or RHIT), current and maintained
  • Twelve or more years in medical coding with at least five leading coding teams at scale
  • Multi-specialty depth: two or more of hospital inpatient and outpatient, physician services, behavioral health and ABA, ASC, dental or HCC risk adjustment
  • Built and run a coding QA program with a defensible sampling methodology, not spot checks
  • Has defended coding decisions in a real payer or RADV audit and can walk through how it was resolved
  • Fluent in CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, NCCI PTP and MUE edits, and modifier discipline

Bonus

Strong plus, not required

  • CPMA or auditing credential in addition to a production coding certification
  • Experience governing an AI or computer-assisted coding tool alongside certified coders
  • Experience training and certifying coders at cohort scale
  • Exposure to US client-facing quality reviews

Why ASP-RCM

Why this seat is different

We are senior-led by design. A senior partner is named on accounts and shows up in the work, which is why clients renew and why this role carries real authority rather than a title. Our AI suite is in production, not in a roadmap deck, and our compliance posture is independently audited: SOC 2 Type II with HITRUST, ISO 27001 and HIPAA.

We pay for certifications and run upskilling cohorts, because coding and revenue cycle are crafts that need investment. You will work across Dallas HQ, six US states and Chennai, India, with colleagues who have run these functions at scale.
